Among the more high profile cases Marchese & Maynard, L.L.P. has recently handled was the estate of Hertha Katz. This matter involved a decedent who died with no known distributees and a probate estate of approximately nine million dollars including a valuable artwork collection. Despite the complications in this matter including the numerous dealings with the German government, negotiations with various museums, a search among holocaust survivors for the decedent’s distributes, a lost art claim, and the holding of several estate auctions with major New York auction galleries, the entire matter was concluded within one year from the decedent’s death. Marchese & Maynard, L.L.P. is currently representing a fiduciary in common law marriage/right of election matter. The firm has recently settled a decedent’s estate wherein the value of estate assets were in excess of twenty million dollars however, the partners are most proud of their pro bono representation of eight families who lost loved ones in the September 11th terrorist attacks.
